As a mixed AAPI woman-owned business , our founder's Japanese & Polish American heritage and perspective quietly inform the values and care, intention, and individuality that are woven into every design. Our Founder & Designer , Monica Wesley , began Uye Surana as a means to express her artistic nature. Growing up in a creative home, she took to fashion and began sewing and tailoring garments at an early age. She later went on to study at The School of the Art Institute in Chicago before moving to New York to complete her BFA in Fashion at Parsons School of Design . Monica’s approach is to make lingerie that is as comfortable as it is beautiful. Early on, her ability to identify & address the needs of family & friends allowed her to gain a strong insight into the products we build for our growing customer base.
